Frequently asked questions
What animals do you rescue?
We rescue a variety of farm animals, mainly horses, ponies, mini horses, donkeys, mules, and borrows, prioritizing their safety and well-being. They are rescued from slaughter houses and we have a limited amount of time to pay for each animal to get them off the kill line. American does not have slaughter houses for equine animals (we banned them years ago) but our American animals are being shipped to Canada and Mexico to be slaughtered inhumanely for human-consumption.
How can I support Brooksprings Farms Rescue?
You can give your support by donating, fundraising, volunteering, or sponsoring one of our animals. Every contribution helps provide care and rehabilitation for our rescued animals. Sharing posts and about the rescue helps to spread awareness to save more horses. You give these animals second chances and they are alive from your support!
Are the animals available for adoption?
If you are looking for a horse of your own, please reach out so we can help find a rescue that is on the line right now and needing a home. After we find your rescue animal, we can assist with arrangements for you. In the future, some of our animals will be available for adoption here at the rescue. We carefully screen potential adopters to ensure a good fit and offer a "give back equine contract" for the life of the animal for any reasons that adopters need to rehome an animal, to ensure none of the rescues end up back on the slaughter line.
What is your therapy and recovery program?
Our rescued animals will be part of our therapy and recovery program that is for both children and adults, who need therapeutic and recovery care. Specialized T&R options include those with special needs, recovering addicts, mental health issues, trauma, grief, abuse, and other concerns that require something beyond traditional care.
Can I visit Brooksprings Farms Rescue?
Yes! We are currently building our sanctuary up for even more rescue animals but do offer by appointment personal "Meet the Rescue" tours, rescue educational visits, and volunteer on the farm opportunities. In the future, we plan to include therapy and recovery programs, fundraising events, and family farm days. Please keep an eye on our website for when we start scheduling or contact us to book a session, retreat, or tour in the future.
What are your therapy and recovery options?
All of our animals will be used in our T&R program to help give particular care to humans. Our rescued animals help to create safe bonds and to work as therapy animals guides for those seeking therapy and recovery. We will offer a variety of options at our rescue and can be adjusted around what you are looking for. From a private session to group therapy to a recovery retreat weekend, we plan to offer many options that are completely customizable.
